AAS-Au President's Message for September 2023
What a month! I want to thank all our supporters and community at large for their ongoing support. It goes to show that Assyrians, when working together, can achieve anything.
We held another great morning tea last week, celebrating Father's Day, with a larger than expected attendance.
Thanks to everyone who attended – Sandy David for organising the entertainment, our corporate sponsor Evin Yalda from Croix ISG and Lazar Lazar from Airline Marketing Australia, for donating two return domestic flights which were raffled.
I also want to thank the Assyrian Australian Association for another large donation. We're allocating all funds raised to our current infrastructure project in the Lower Barwar.
I had a great interview with our Head of Fundraising, Ninus Kanna, about the importance of this project and work which Assyrian Aid Society is doing in our homeland to help ensure our people's survival.
Despite these fundraising efforts, we're still short of our fundraising target. So I ask again, if you haven't already, please make a tax-deductible donation to Assyrian Aid Society so that we may empower our people back home.
We've done all the hard work, you just need to click the link below and follow the simple prompts. It will take you less than 60 seconds.
I want to add one more piece of encouragement from August. It was great to have Rabi Yacoob Gewargis, ADM Secretary General, visiting us from Iraq and hosting several functions, which were attended by a cross-section of our community.
It's always encouraging to see collaboration between our organisations. We're all working for the same cause. Our team looks forward to seeing you at our next event.
Peter Esho is the President of Assyrian Aid Society in Australia.
